1. How is the 5 kVA Power Kit (Gen 2) different from the 3.6 kW Power Kit (Gen1)?

The EcoFlow 5 kVA Power Kit (Gen 2) features an updated 5 kVA Power Hub with a dedicated 48V output port, connections for up to three EcoFlow LFP batteries, and 240V output when connected to 50A shore power. Its inverter provides 5000W continuous output and 10000W surge capacity, compared with the Gen 1 3.6 kW hub’s 3600W output and 7200W surge capacity. The Gen 2 system also includes a larger 30/50A Smart AC/DC Distribution Panel and supports either the 7-inch Power Kit Console or 10-inch PowerInsight display. Unlike the 3.6 kW Gen 1 system, it offers 240V capability and a dedicated 48V output port. Refer to the Specifications tab for additional details about the 5 kVA components.

2. Can I combine 2 kWh and 5 kWh batteries?

EcoFlow Power Kits can use a combination of 2 kWh and 5 kWh LFP batteries with one Power Hub when running the supported firmware: V1.0.10.x for Gen 1 systems or V1.0.2.x for Gen 2 systems.

3. How much solar do I need to charge an EcoFlow 2 or 5 kWh Power Kit battery?

For the 3.6 kW EcoFlow Power Kit, the solar input ports support 13–60V, with a maximum of 1600W per port. The right solar array size depends on your typical energy use, available roof or mounting space, panel placement, rated panel output, and whether panels are wired in series or parallel. Because each camper van and RV installation is different, choose a solar configuration that fits your power needs and available space. EcoFlow solar charging cables and accessories are available to help plan your installation.

4. What additional items are recommended that are not included with this EcoFlow Power Kit?

a.) Choose a 30A or 50A shore power inlet that suits your installation and electrical requirements. EcoFlow Power Kit settings let you configure the input amperage limit to match the inlet or the available grid/breaker capacity. One common setup uses a 30A inlet with a 30A-to-15A adapter.

b.) For rooftop solar panels, consider a solar entry gland or MC4 junction box to route the solar wiring into the vehicle. The Power Kit includes one solar charging cable with MC4 connectors pre-installed.

c.) An 80A fuse and compatible fuse holder are recommended for alternator charging. The Power Kit includes one alternator charging cable fitted with ring terminals.
