But when something is off—whether it’s voltage, fuel delivery, airflow, or usage habits—they can shut down, lock out, or fail to ignite altogether. Fixing Low Battery Voltage If your heater won’t start or shuts down during ignition, voltage is the first place to look. Key fixes include: Testing voltage during startup (not just at rest) Ensuring your system can handle high amp draw during ignition Upgrading undersized wiring Cleaning and tightening ground connections Low voltage is one of the most common—and most overlooked—causes of heater failure. 2.
